Client Brief
The client desired a modern kitchen update that would provide a large, practical cooking space and plenty of room for entertaining guests.
Key requests included an island to suit the room’s angled layout and a design that would make a visual impact upon entering the space.
Additionally, the client wanted to retain the existing flooring, which posed a design challenge.
Design Solution
We relocated the kitchen from its original location against an angled wall to the opposite corner of the room, creating a much larger working area.
The new island was designed to fit within the existing shape of the room and integrate with current water and waste systems. The island now provides comfortable breakfast bar seating with a view of the outdoors.
By using a mix of materials such as Dekton and Corian worktops paired with Spekva solid oak, we added depth and interest to the design.
The Siemens StudioLine ovens, Bora XPure hob, and Dunavox wine cooler offer high-performance functionality, while stone-effect cabinetry and LED strip lighting add a contemporary finish.
Challenges & Solutions
The original kitchen layout featured an island that obstructed the flow of the room, making it feel cramped.
By relocating the kitchen, we maximised the working area and improved the visual impact when entering the space.
Although the client wished to retain the existing flooring, we successfully adapted the island to fit within the room’s layout while ensuring seamless integration with the existing infrastructure.
Results
The final design is a striking, modern German open plan kitchen kitchen that balances functionality and style, with plenty of room for entertaining guests.
The use of mixed finishes, including wood and stone-effect cabinetry, along with advanced appliances, ensures this kitchen is as practical as it is visually impressive.
