Customer Requirements
When we first went out to see this client, their main concerns with their old kitchen were the layout and how it created busy ‘pinch point’ areas of the kitchen, making it hard to work in. They also felt that there was a waste of storage space as the cabinets did not go close to the tall ceiling height of the room.
The reason that there were congestion points in the kitchen was down to the fridge being planned directly opposite the sink, the dishwasher directly opposite the hob and the oven right next to the doorway with very little space between.
To improve the flow of the space, we moved the sink to the other end of the island, the dishwasher to the opposite side of the island, the ovens to the middle of the tall bank and changed the very large American fridge freezer to integrated fridge and freezer, all helping to create more space and flow to the kitchen.
We also designed the cabinets all the way to the ceiling to maximise the storage space and changed the gas hob to induction to help keep the worktops less cluttered and more streamlined.
